Voter Registration:
The last day to register to vote in the upcoming Massachusetts
Presidential Primary is February 11th. Call the Boston Election Department
at (617) 635-4635 or go to: www.cityof
boston.gov/elections/voter for more information. Forms may be obtained
at your local libraries or post offices.

Merchant Memberships are $25.00 a year.
Please note that this is a non-voting membership.
If interested in becoming a Merchant Member please print out and complete
the membership form at the bottom of this online newsletter and forward
with your check in the amount of $25.00 made payable to the Columbia-Savin
Hill Civic Association. We will list all Merchant Members each month in
our newsletter.
Little House Food Pantry
The CSHCA collects food and household items at our monthly meetings to
donate to The Little House Food Pantry. We have our collection basket
located at the sign in desk.
Please consider making a donation on a regular basis for the need locally
is ongoing. Suggested non-perishable food/household items: jams, peanut
butter, pasta, canned sauces/veggies, boxed or canned soup, cereal, crackers,
condiments, cleaning supplies, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, shaving cream,
razors..etc.

Cash for Class - (Help benefit the Edward Everett School)
South Shore Plaza wants to help you earn cash for your school.....
It's easy... Every time you, your family, and friends shop at South Shore
Plaza, have your receipts stamped at the Simon Marketplace (Customer Service),
to help your favorite participating school get closer to winning valuable
prizes. Your school can win prizes ranging from $300 to #3,000 !!
Receipts must be dated between July 15, 2003 and May 15, 2004 and
every school is a winner

Here is what you do. Bring your original
cash register receipt from any South Shore Plaza store to the Simon Market
Place (Customer Service) and they will credit your school, stamp your receipt
and hand it back to you. Your school will receive five (5) points for each
dollar shown on the receipts.

Uphams' Corner Library Happenings
February 27th, Friday night, 7 PM. This date marks the Annual Uphams'
Corner Library POOL PARTY! This festive fundraising event features
tropical food delights and joyous music. The party is free (though generous
donations are more than welcomed). Sponsored in part by by The Friends of
Uphams' Corner Library. Fun for all ages. For more information see Vince
Halpin at our February 2nd CSHCA meeting or check your local newspapers.
CSHCA Meeting Childcare Reminder:
At our general meetings we do offer free childcare for our membership.
Do bring along items that your child may need during the course of the
evening. Make sure you arrive on the early side to give your child some
time to adjust and settle in.
50/50 Raffle
The CSHCA runs a 50/50 raffle at each of our general meetings.
Please participate. Tickets are only $1 each and three for $2.
Other than membership dues this is our major source of income
for our association. Tickets can be purchased at the front desk
when checking in to the meeting hall. The winning ticket will be
drawn at the conclusion of each meeting.
Boston Police, C-11 Monthly Community Meeting
The station hosts a public meeting (in the guard room) for the
community each month at the police station located at 40 Gibson
Street running from 7 PM to 8 PM. A guest speaker of note is usually
featured at these gatherings. It's a great way to meet our officers,
exchange ideas, or to voice your local concerns. Call: Officer Mike

Assessing Meeting
Thursday, January 29th, 6:30 - 8 PM at the Murphy School. John Taglilatela
from Assessing will be on hand to answer all your questions about Property
Taxes and any exemptions or abatements you may be eligible for.
Community Forum - Boston Public Schools
Thursday, February 5th, 6 - 8 PM at the Campbell Resource Center, 1216 Dorchester
Avenue. Come discuss possible changes to the School Assignment Policy. Phase one
will focus on parents' experiences with the current policy. Community participation
is strongly encouraged!
