Dorchester Day Celebrations
This years Landing Day Ceremonies will be held at 12 Noon on June 5, 2004 at Savin Hill Beach. We will watch the Puritans land at Savin Hill Beach and join us as we walk up to the Founding Stone at Savin Hill Park. Our Emcee for the day will be State Representative Marty Walsh and our guest speaker will be State Senator Jack Hart. Edward Everett Elementary Annual Spring Festival
The 5th Annual Spring Festival will be held at the Edward Everett Elementary School, 71 Pleasant Street, Dorchester, on June 12th from 1 to 4 P.M. Sponsored by the Friends of the Edward Everett Schoolyard, the free event brings together, students, parents, teachers, friends and neighbors for an afternoon filled with music, crafts, and games. Throughout the day, students from every class will be performing on the main stage under the direction of their music teachers. Other activities include The Nature Exchange with Park Ranger John Kovich, face painting, chess tournaments, beach volleyball, and art projects designed and staffed by volunteers from Very Special Arts and the firm of Brown Rudnick. Business partner Manulife Financial will sponsor an exhibit from the New England Aquarium as well providing volunteers to run the other activities.

Pizza, drinks, and cotton candy will be sold, as well as ethnic food from local vendors. At the Welcome table, visitors can buy a raffle ticket and the new I love the Edward Everett Schoolyard lanyards. Funds raised from the event will go towards the ongoing maintenance and programming of the new schoolyard.

CSHCA Meeting Childcare Reminder
At our general meetings we offer free childcare for our membership. Please bring along any personal items that your child may need during the course of the evening. Make sure you arrive on the early side to give your child some time to adjust and settle in.

Dorchester Center for Adult Education
Meet the Gorillas - July 10th 10 AM - 4 PM
DCAE gives you a unique opportunity to meet the gorillas up close and personal at the Franklin Zoo. In this one day workshop you will observe gorilla behavior in a private viewing, gain a deeper understanding of gorillas and learn what's being done to protect this endangered species.
Participants must be at least 16 years of age. Cost: $40.

50/50 Raffle
The CSHCA runs a 50/50 raffle at each of our general monthly meetings. Please participate. Tickets are only $1 each and three for $2 and can be purchased at the front desk when checking in. The winning ticket will be drawn at the conclusion of the meeting.



Remember your CSHCA dues must be paid for a minimum of thirty days prior to our monthly general meetings in order to be a voting member in good standing.

Little House Food Pantry

HAZARDOUS WASTE DROP-OFF - Spring 2004
Saturday, June 19 From 9 AM to 2 PM UMass Harbor Campus, Morrissey Blvd.
(get there early 'cuz the lines can be long!)

This is for Boston residents only. No commercial waste will be accepted. Proof of residency is required. Bring your cleaners, strippers, solvents, paints, acids,chemicals, pesticides, poisons, aerosols, drain cleaners, bleach, batteries, motor oil, fluids, tires, anti-freeze and detergents. It is advised that you transport your wastes in a heavy cardboard box in case of leakage.
