Boston Partnership for Older Adults
Learn more about the Boston Partnership for Older Adults and our work in creating
a strategic plan to improve services for vulnerable older adults in Boston. Tuesday,
April 29th 10 AM to 12 noon at the Tobin Community Center, 1481 Tremont Street,
Roxbury.

Voices on Growing Older in Boston" Learn more about the Boston Partnership for

The Boston Partnership for Older Adults (BPOA) is a coalition of over 125 organizations
and individuals throughout Boston working to promote a system of quality services
for older adults and caregivers through improved access, collaboration and education.

Mother's Coffee Hour with The Mayor
The annual Mother's Coffee Hour with Mayor Thomas M. Menino will be held on Tuesday,
April 29th between the hours of 9 and 10 AM @ The Ryan Playground, Dorchester
Avenue. Come by and enjoy a cup of joe and breakfast items. The Mayor will be
giving away a beautiful floral planter to the first fifty families that attend.
Guests will also be giving away a chance to win a "Day on the Town", which includes
a $250. Filene's fragrance basket, luncheon for two at Legal Seafoods, a Swan
Boat ride and a Boss Limo-Scene door-to-door limo service voucher. The Coffee
Hour offers mothers and caregivers the opportunity to meet the Mayor and to speak
with him informally about local youth services (sports and rec.) and their constituent
concerns.

18th Annual Savin Hill Park Cleanup
The annual cleanup will occur Saturday, May 3rd (rain date-May 4th) from 10 AM
to 4 PM. As ever, tools and bags will be provided as well as some free refreshments.
This effort is in need of captains to take responsibility for different sections
of the park. Please let them know if you'll be able to help, be a captain or if
you have some new ideas for the cleanup.

Seasonal Yard Waste Collection
The DPW will be collecting residential yard
waste on the first four Saturdays in May. Place your yard waste on the curb by
7 AM. Acceptable waste includes: leaves, grass, weeds, hedge trimmings and bundled
brush. Do not use plastic bags - use paper
leaf bags or open trash barrels only. No trash, large tree logs, soil or commercial
materials will be accepted. For more information call the Recycling Office at

Art/Talks:- Museum Tours
a Spring class sponsored by:
Arts on the Point & The Dorchester Center for Adult Education
Class Description:
This class offers participants the opportunity to spend four Saturday afternoons
exploring museums and galleries in the greater Boston area. Guided by members
of UMB art faculty, we will visit four Boston artists in their studios, tour the
galleries of The Museum of Fine Arts, wander through the galleries on Newbury
Street and Harrison Avenue and explore public art sites in and around Boston.
These informal and informative afternoons begin at the Yellow Brick Road Coffee
House with a complimentary snack where the group then boards a UMB van to be chauffeured
from site to site. Museum admissions and a sketch/note book are included in the
course fee. This new offering is back by popular demand and is limited to 12 participants.
The cost of the course is $35. (CSHCA members get a 10% discount scholarship for
this class)

Edward Everett School Benefit
You are invited to... "Rock The Night" with Cat Basket May 3rd, 8 PM to Midnight
at the James J. Rice AmVets Post 28, 33 Romsey Street, Dorchester. This is the
5th annual fundraiser that this year will benefit the Art Education Department
and the principal's nuts & bolts expenses. Cost: $10 per person and @15 per couple.
Tickets at the door. Checks can be made payable to "Edward Everett School". Sorry
this is an Adults only event. There will be a cash bar and free munchies available.

all "appropriate submissions". Letters to the Editor, op-ed's, write-ups about
a neighborhood event, local announcements ...etc. Please keep your written text
on the short side (recommended: several paragraphs 1/2 to 2/3 of a page) and single
spaced. We reserve the right to edit all submissions for clarity or due to space
constraints.

expiration date!!! Many of our memberships run out in December. It would be greatly
