Can't Get There From Here
For those of you who know me, you know that one issue I am passionate about is the protection, enhancement and augmentation of our open spaces. Living in a dense urban setting as we do, the importance of these parks, parkways and beaches cannot be underestimated. That is why I was pleased when Senator Hart asked me to speak at the Route 93/Columbia Road interchange groundbreaking event. This would be the perfect opportunity for me to remind the powers that be that Columbia Road is part of Olmstead's Emerald Necklace, designed to link the neighborhoods with the waterfront. This vision has long been lost in favor of the expeditious routing of regional traffic through the interchange and Kosciuszko Circle, while exacerbating the lack of waterfront access that the residents of the St. Margaret area experience. One of my speaking points was "With the advent of Route 93, isn't it a shame that folks who live on Harborview Street not only no longer have a view of the harbor, but they can't even walk to it safely." If our neighborhood is expected to bear ever-increasing density and the ultimate buildout of Columbia Point is to be embraced, a long-range vision for this area should include a designated (separated from vehicles) pedestrian access from west of 93 to the Harborwalk.

Participation = Livability
The Columbia Savin Hill Civic Association cannot run by itself. Rather it takes the participation of informed, active and engaged members to staff our working committees. Joining these groups will provide you with a deeper level of involvement and decision-making on important matters. There are openings on all of the CSHCA committees and I strongly encourage you to join one or all.

CSHCA Committees:
Executive Board/Planning Committee, Beautification Committee, Auto Insurance Committee, 215 Sydney Street Committee and the Super 88 Committee.
