Announcements 

  1. Martin Richard Foundation… One Boston Day along with membership, volunteers from Boys & Girls Club, Home Depot, John Hancock and WHDH and local artist David Butler for doing an AWESOME job in cleaning and painting inside Ryan Park. Please check out the mural!! The membership will also be asked to support reimbursement of supplies for $117.
  2. Special Senate Election – to replace Linda Dorcena Forry. Nick Collins is our new Senator effective with his swearing in May 9th… Congrats Nick!!
  3. Love your Block… Cleanup was SATURDAY MAY 5th… meeting at 8am thru 3pm. Volunteers were throughout the Savin Hill Park off Grampian. Thank you Bill Walczak for the 35th anniversary of the park cleanup!!
  4. Billboards… Mayor support Rep. Hunt’s measure to limit billboards. See recent article on this important topic. See the Dorchester Reporter article on Billboard Measure.
  5. Shane Pac – Legislative Director to Councilor Baker has moved into a new role in City Council Staffing. Thank you Shane for your support and attendance at each meeting. Best of Luck
  6. CSHCA Election/Nominating Committee. Nominations are in. Current board members (Desmond, Eileen, Nicole and Patrick) and the executive board nominations are: Paul Nutting, Maureen McQuinlen, John Lydon, Stephan Kaluzisk and Tim Joyce. Official election will take place in June.
  7. House Bill 4337- Establishing a special commission to research alternative to methadone clinics looking at use of pharmacies to distribute methadone.

Speakers

  1. Lisa Coveney will speak from ISD from the Housing Division and provide information on the Rental Registration Program.  The deadline for registration is July 1, 2018.  So if you own rental property in the neighborhood here is your chance to understand this program.
  2. Mark Culliton from the College Bound program will speak about the Little House Redesign and speak to the courbanize survey recently distributed. The survey is available at the Little House – coUrbanize Survey site.
  3. ELECTION SPEAKERS: a) Steve Murphy, current Register of Deeds will address the membership and speak to his election campaign; and b) Greg Henning will address the membership on his election efforts in running for District Attorney.
  4. Student Helen Lee may address the membership on the Glovers Corner initiative which has an – OPEN HOUSE- Exploring Housing Ideas. Scheduled for May 16th – 6:00 pm at the Community Academy of Science and Health Cafeteria (11 Charles Street, Fields Corner). Please BE PREPARED for the meeting by reading in advance the Boston Housing TOOLKIT document.
  5. WELCOME Patrick Fandel. Patrick will address the membership as our new liaison to the Mayor. Patrick is replacing David Cotter who is taking a new role with the City. We thank David for his contributions to the neighborhood.
  6. Don Walsh will address the members on his efforts with the Vision Committee. Don and the committee have drafted a VISION document for comment. A vote on the proposal is scheduled for June.

No voting Items Monday but the Tuesday, May 8th Planning meeting includes the following items:

14 Spring Garden- Owners will present to Change Occupancy from a single family to a 2 family and add extension in back of property.

Development of 13-15 Sagamore ( empty lot)- Developer Ted Ahearn will discuss a residential development for the lot.

174R Grampian Way- Covert Carriage House currently used for storage into 2 condo units with dormers.
