Meeting minutes from the April 2, 2018 general meeting:

  • Irene Sweeney from the the Boston Water & Sewer Commission (BWSC) discussed 2 projects. Doing a section of Bay Street, all 3 utilities. Start projected April 9. One section of Sydney St.
  • Nominations for officer/e-board-all incumbents were re-nominated; no others were nominated.
  • Evandro Carvalho spoke about his campaign for District Attorney, and a recent bill he sponsored which raised the age at which children may be held criminally responsible for their actions from 7 to 12 to help avoid a school to prison pipeline. Followed by Q&A.
  • Planning Committee update by Eileen Fenton.
  • 27 Sagamore St-Renovate basement and extend living space into basement. Motion to support passed.
  • 12 Carson St-Keep existing mansard, add onto rear of building, put unit in basement, with conditions that they keep parking, keep the retaining wall, no utility on roof or compressors outside, units sold as ownership units. Motion to support passed.
  • Dorchester Market presentation: Planning Committee recommends overall support, reduction in density to account for lack of parking. Attorney Joe Hanley spoke for the project, as did Kevin from Rode Architects. Changed height from 6 to 5 stories; changed design a bit. This is the final architectural design. 10 studios, 19 1-bedroom, 9 2-bedroom. Motion to adopt planning committee’s recommendation. 20 in favor, 5 opposed, motion passed.
  • Announcements: May 17 senior luncheon Joe Kedlick? a former private investigator, put out flier about the camshare program by BPD and related privacy concerns.
